Backgrounds Visual Guide!
Not enough ElementsEven though the background looks nice, it lacks too many elements to qualify for anything more than a foreground.
We will be judging your art with your art level/style so please don't feel intimidated. This is a very easy to upgrade background to meet the other criteria. |
Standard BackgroundThis image will qualify for the Standard Background bonus.
The bulk of an image is usually found within the Middle Grounds. Our Aqrion or subject of choice is also located here in most images. The Back Ground is usually where the horizon of the ground or sky is met. Elements provided here are:

Complex BackgroundThis image qualifies for the complex Background!
There are more than four elements, making it very easy to count for SP! Fore Ground:

Prompts and Elements that can be found within each Biome:
Kelp Forest Example:
- A large amount of Kelp. Lighting caries, usually filtered beams through the kelp.
- Creatures: Octopus, Rockfish, Crabs, Sea Urchins.
- Creatures: Octopus, Rockfish, Crabs, Sea Urchins.

Ice Caves:
- This is where the Ice Sheet meets land. The waters are very sheltered here. A network of caves has been dug into the ice and ground itself. Brinicles are common here.
- Creatures: Spider Crabs, Sea Urchin, Sea Stars, Marine Arthropods, Mullusks, Algae, Bush Sponges.

- Creatures: Baleen Whales, Orca Whales, Beluga Whales, Sea Lions, Walrus, Cod & Char. Seabirds: Gulls, Puffins, Auks, Penguins.
Ice Shelf:
- This is under the giant solid ice sheet, but not near land. Algae are present growing on the underside of the ice. Ground will have Red Algae, Glass sponges and brittle corals.
- Creatures: Krill & Shrimps. Anchovies, Char, Seals, Penguins, Sea Stars, Spider Crabs. Polar Bears on surface of ice. Trapped Beluga Whales sometimes present too.

Abyssal Depths:
- Vast emptiness of dark water and fine mud. Is empty and lovely feeling. Often large animal carcasses are seen. This is where life congregated in this empty desert. Waters often become murky when agitated by creatures movement.
- Creatures: Hagworms, Sleepersharks.
- Creatures: Hagworms, Sleepersharks.
Abyssal Cave:
- This fantasy cave system is dark and spooky. Many glowing species of plants exist lining the cave walls and floors. Otherwise there is no light.
- Creatures: Gulper Eels, Deepsea crustaceons, Dumbo Octopus.
- Creatures: Gulper Eels, Deepsea crustaceons, Dumbo Octopus.
Deepsea Trench:
- Long, narrow and steep-sided canyons at the bottom of the ocean. It's dark with very little light down here. Very spooky looking. Very Rocky with many cracks and little caves. Fantasy glowing plants can be shown.
- Creatures: Eels, Deepsea fish, Shelfish, Tubeworms, Octopus.

Floating Isles:
- These islands made up of trees and other vegetation, seaweeds on the underside. They drift around the major oceanic currents.
- Creatures: Sunfish, Many Tropical Fish, Sailfish, Dolphins, Sharks. Seabirds, almost any species depending on where the islands have drifted.
Sunken Spires:
- Ancient cities, similar to the legends of Atlantis, where they have sunken into the ocean. They have become havens to many species despite being in the empty open ocean.
- Creatures: Dolphins, Sharks, Tropical Fish. Merfolk are often found living here too.

Swamp:
- Much like traditional swamps we have today. The Swamp biome is a more stagnant or low flow of body of water. Swamps are full of mud, decaying leaf litter, logs and other debris, lily pads and many other floating plants. Often the land and water border is hard to make out, with the plants creating a false land over the water.
- Creatures: Amphibians such as frogs, toads, salamanders; Tadpoles, Insect Larvae, Small Fish, Insects, Alligators, Catfish, Otter, Mink, Beaver, Moose, Herons and many other birds.
Lake:
- Lakes are a large body of freshwater found on land. Some are high in altitude with cold crystal clear waters. Others are at a lower elevation with warmer clear waters. Lakes often have sandy or gravel bottoms and contain a very diverse range of flora and fauna.
- Creatures: Many Freshwater Fish, Mink, Beaver, Deer, Moose, Turtles, Water Snakes, Ducks, Geese, Flamingos, and many other birds.
River:
- Rivers and streams are fast moving bodies of water. Some are cold, or very cold, highly oxygenated, and crystal clear. Others are very large and often have murky water with a more silty bottom. Rivers are commonly filled with rocks and boulders, as well as fallen locks. Mosses are most common in the water, but other freshwater plants are found in slower moving sections. Most aqrion will choose deeper rivers to live in, to accommodate for their larger sizes.
- Creatures: Spawning Salmon, Salmon Fry, Trout, and many other smaller river and stream fish; Freshwater Shrimp, Crabs, Crayfish, Crocodiles, Eel, Catfish, Sturgeon, Amazon River Dolphins, Bullsharks, Bears, Eagles, and many other visiting creatures.

Taiga:
- A cold biome filled with forests of coniferous trees such as spruce, pine, cedar and fir. Snow is often prevalent as this biome has short summers and long winters.
- Creatures: Bears, Wolves, Reindeer, Elk, Deer, Beaver, Lynx, Wolverine, Weasels, Minks, Martins, Foxes, Frogs, Eagles, Owls, and many Songbirds.
Redwood Forest:
- A very old forest filled with massive trees. These are some of the oldest and tallest trees in the world. Commonly filled with Sequoia and Douglas fir trees. The ground cover has a lot of mosses and ferns with little undergrowth otherwise as the forest floor is often quite dim.
- Creatures: Cougar, Bears, Racoons, Squirrels, Foxes, Bobcats, Badgers, Bats, Owls, Hawks, numerous Songbirds, and Slugs.
Tundra:
- The Tundra is a cold subarctic region that is under snow the majority of the year. During the summer it goes through a mega growth and is filled with some of the most nutrient rich soils resulting in extraordinarily rapid growth for such a short period of time. The landscape has few trees such as the Larch and mostly consists of wildflowers, grasses, mosses and lichens.
- Creatures: Pikas, Hares, Foxes, Lynx, Ox, Polar Bears, Penguins, Seals, Swans & Geese, Songbirds, Owls, Falcons, Eagles and many other Migratory bird species.
